Here is the Thriller album that I got for my 3rd birthday...or maybe it was Christmas. My mom and dad couldn't quite remember or agree on which it was. Either way, the year was 1984, I was 3 years old and I loved Michael Jackson so much that I put this on my wish list.

In light of recent events, I dug it up while I was at my parents' this weekend for a little nostalgia.

I was in Milwaukee this weekend for a few things, but mostly for Eva's wedding shower. It was at her aunt's beautiful home (no really, it was be-aut-i-ful) and there was not one aspect of it that was overlooked. Her aunt and cousins did such a fantastic job. I wish I wasn't such a stickler and could feature more than one pic of the shower...because you know I took a ton of pics! The food was delicious, the decor was beautiful, the company was pleasant. It was such a nice afternoon!

We live at a pretty high point in the city, so we get some great sunsets. I have been seeing pics like this on some blogs I read and I wanted to try it out. The result...I like it!

(no story)

Wednesday night's weather sort of screamed: Go get ice cream! So we did.

We went to Michael's Frozen Custard. It's no Gille's or Kopp's, but I'll take it if it is all I can get.

I chose my favorite combo - chocolate in a waffle cone. Jon went with chocolate in the cake cone. It was tasty. I was minding my own business enjoying my cone....until it started melting at warp speed. It was total pandemonium and I had a really hard time keeping up with the licking that needed to be done so as not to make a mess. I sort of had it under control and then the ice cream started coming out of the bottom of the cone. It was a mess and I felt like a 5 year old.

While I was accumulating napkins and feverishly eating, Jon lovingly told me that I "suck at cones". Ha! Ouch. That was really below the belt.

(and this was the umbrella we sat under)

There is a story behind this bunny.

This little guy lounges in our little front yard area like he owns the place. Legs outstretched in both directions and not phased if you walk a foot away from it. It does not move. I haven't been able to compose a shot in time before it runs away to show this guy in full form, but I am determined I will.

What do you think? I need a few more pairs of sunglasses?

My current fave is the ridiculously large pair in the middle.

as a side note, I haven't been that motivated to get good shots this week. Most of the pics are lame like this one. This was another product of forgetting to take a pic until I was turning off all the lights in the living room ready to go to bed. Oh well. Can't win them all.

We are in the market for a new car, so we went car shopping on Sunday when we wouldn't be bothered by salesmen.

Check out this beaut!

Are they seriously selling this car for almost $4k?! Who would pay that?

Saturday was HOT! I had plans to finally lay by the pool all day. I haven't been able to do that once this year yet! I was pumped.

Except when I got there, the pool was closed...and it wasn't going to reopen until Wednesday.

I still decided to sit by the pool and read, but it was so hot and the pool was taunting me to come in to cool off. Since I was practically melting, I went back home.

Total buzzkill.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

Looking at this pic sends me in confusion and makes me think I was in Costa Rica or something.

But I wasn't.

I was at work today.

Then I went to the mall and bought more Haribo grapefruits.

This reminds me of the TLC Waterfalls video...you know, when they were dancing water versions of themselves.

On the other hand, that song reminds me of taking golf lessons with Gina and Meghan in the summer of 1995. Gina would drive us out to Dretzka in my parents' minivan and we would listen to that song on repeat - along with Hootie and the Blowfish....and probably the Pulp Fiction soundtrack...as well as Kiss from a Rose. That's how we rolled back in '95.

If you must know, we got toothbrushes, saline solution, gum and sunblock.

Geez. Nosey.

Try to resist Lambchop.

I dare you!

See. You can't do it.

Monday night softball.

This is the fourth game I have been to this year...and my fifth game in the last 5 years.

I'm making up for lost time.

We celebrated Father's Day at Devils Lake on Sunday. Yes, it was a week early. Someone (ahem, Gina) thought Father's Day was on the 14th and not the 21st, so we celebrated a week early. Yes, Gina calls all the shots in the family. Juuust kidding. It ended up working out best for everyone and the weather was per-fect!

It has become somewhat of a tradition to go to Devils Lake for Father's Day. We've done it for probably about 4 years. We grill out, some peeps take a dip in the lake, we take a hike. It's always a good time.

This will be the last time I see Cooper for a while, so everyone will be spared pics of him for a few weeks. But really, would anyone mind seeing more pics of this sweet little face? I know I can't get enough of it, but I also know I am biased.

Oh hello, Haribo Grapefruits. It's been such a long time, old friend.

These are my all time favorite candy. And really, I don't do sweet candy. I much prefer chocolate...except for these. I believe I first got them at Mr. Bulky's at Mayfair, then found them at whatever that candy store was called at Brookfield Square, but after both closed they are no where to be found! Haribo sells a lot of other gummies prepackaged, but not the grapefruits. The past 5 (or so) years have been a constant search for them. Don't you feel sorry for me? I've had it so rough.

The good news is there is a savior in the form of a kiosk in the middle of the mall called King of Sweets. They are pretty sure of themselves - selling 1/4 lb of candy for $2.99 - but I did/do not care. Give me my Haribo Grapefruits!

Obvi I have been in a black and white mood the last couple days.

I also understand this is the same kid from the prior post. Please don't hate. I hardly ever see him and I just can't help it. He is so precious!

I thought the post editing of this pic was funny though - and I'll tell you why. When I was a senior in high school, I got senior pictures taken like all good little 18 year olds do. In one of my shots, I was wearing a black turtleneck and was put against a black background. As you might have guessed, what resulted was a total Jambi moment, just like this pic. When it came time to hand out my wallet size photos to my friends, I would sign the back, "mekka lekka hi mekka hiny ho".

This is a true story. I should dig that pic up and post it.

6.11.09

Look at this kid!

I want to eat him up!

Look at his 3 haphazard teeth.

Gah! I love him!
