Sexy is back

The day is here. I waited months and months for it to come. I went to bed last night giddy like it was Christmas Eve. I got up EARLY (anyone who knows me, knows this is unheard of) and was out the door a half hour earlier than I usually am. I went to Target right as it opened (BEFORE work), made my way to the back of the store and saw it in all its glory....

Justin Timberlake - Future Sex/Love Sounds

I listened to it on repeat all day at work. So far, I really like Love Stoned. Everyone should probably download it.

He is amazing.

(The last episode of Big Brother is on tonight, The first episode of Dancing with the Stars is on tonight AND the second season of The Office also came out today - which I purchased along with JT...9/12/06 has been a great day)

A Lovely Day for an Ironman...

...and when I say lovely, I mean miserable. I cannot think of a worse day to compete in an Ironman actually. It was in the fifties and raining all day. Eventhough the weather was crappy, I still really wanted to see it all go down. So Jon and I headed down at around 7pm to see the bulk of the athletes cross the finish. My favorite was when people would do the last block of the race holding the hand of someone that was obviously important to them...son, daughter, friend, spouse, etc. It was inspiring...makes you want to be an Ironman.

Stolen Shoes

Last night one of my favorite episodes of Sex and the City aired, "A Woman's Right To Shoes". I actually don't know if it is my favorite because of its content, but more because of the beautiful shoes featured on the show. The episode has Carrie and Stanford go to a party where they are forced to take off their shoes upon entering. Carrie is beside herself because she is wearing "an outfit", but reluctantly did so, only to find them gone when she was on her way out the door. The shoe I am referring to is the Sedaraby silver Manolo Blahnik heels. Ever since I saw this episode, I have wanted these shoes so bad. Unfortch, they go for about $800 on ebay. I told Jon that the minute I win the lottery, I am buying these heels.

In other shoe news, check out the cute new Mini Uggs...

Maxwell Street Days

I read on the home page of the Madison Isthmus that "If you don’t need it, State Street has it. And if State Street doesn’t want it any more, it puts it out on a table during Maxwell Street Days." That could not be more true. I look forward to this weekend all year and this year did not disappoint. Dizzy and Julie came in for the day...so the two of them, Jon and I headed out in the swealtering heat, determined to find some bargains. And bargains we got at the famous sidewalk sale. The most notable were a pair of Ugg loafers for $30 at Bop, and a bag full of merchandise from Urban Outfitters (including 6 scarves and 4 shirts) for $13.

Another great part of this weekend is watching the Paddle and Portage. It is a fun race that includes teams of 2 doing a 1.5 mile paddle, a 1.5 mile portage, and another 1.5 mile paddle. The portage goes through downtown and around the square. It is amazing to see so many people running through the streets carrying canoes. This along with the weekly Farmer's Market makes it a busy, fun day to be in downtown Madison.

No pics. I know, I suck. However, here are 2 pics from LAST year...

Go Gina, it's your birthday. How's your grandma? She's fine.
(I just found out from Jon that this sing songy phrase is not a known thing...is that just something Gina and I know? I thought everyone knew "how's your grandma"!)

WHEEL

Tonight is the big night! Gina's big national television debut on Wheel of Fortune. Tune in! It is usually on at 6:30 most places I think, but on different networks everywhere. CBS in Milwaukee, NBC in Madison and I think Fox in Green Bay. Anyway, I am in Green Bay right now to support Gina and her big night. There are some people getting together at The Bar to watch it tonight. It should be fun. Gina was actually on the radio this morning because of it! It was awesome. A friend of Todd's was talking to some DJs on a sports talk show and mentioned that he knew Gina and that she was going to be on WOF and they told him to have her call them. So she did and it was great. More of a recap on the night to come later...

Los Angeles : A Recap

We wanted to get our pictures with the Hollywood sign, but it was so sunny and my dad was taking forever to actually take the picture, so Gina and I looked like idiots in all the pictures - until my brilliant idea. Keep your heads down until the last second when he is ready to take the pic and then put your head up and smile...look at the difference!

RECAP
Maybe Gina didn't win as much as she was hoping, but it was a great experience and one of those things to mark off your list of things to do before you die. LA was great too, but I think 5 days would be just enough time to go there if you were going to go on vacation...but go during the summer. That way you could spend more time at the beaches and go to the theme parks. In all, a great trip - and a great excuse to take a little 3 day vacation! For Gina's version of the story, click here.

check out more LA pics here!

January Playlist

I decided to look back in the archives and pick 2 songs for each month from the CDs I made in 2001. 5 years ago! It is kind of fun going back and listening to them...brings back memories. I'm also picking 2 favorites for each month from now on. Actually, a lot of these songs COULD have been on a list in 2001. It's funny how some songs/artists resurface and you remember how great they are again...or maybe they are just a constant favorite (i.e. Indigo Girls and Stevie Wonder).

1. Hung Up - Madonna
2. Closer To Fine - Indigo Girls
3. Bad Day - Daniel Powter
4. L.O.V.E. - Ashlee Simpson
5. Ring of Fire - Johnny Cash
6. Jackson - Joaquin Phoenix & Reese Witherspoon
7. El Matador - Los Fabulosos Cadillacs
8. Another Day - RENT
9. I Walk The Line - Johnny Cash
10. Motherless Child - Eric Clapton (2001)
11. Galileo - Indigo Girls
12. Folsom Prison Blues - Johnny Cash
13. Silver, Blue and Gold - Bad Company (favorite)
14. A Boy Named Sue - Johnny Cash
15. Float On - Modest Mouse
16. I Just Can't Get Enough - Depeche Mode (2001)
17. Sugar, We're Goin Down - Fall Out Boy
18. Higher Ground - Stevie Wonder (favorite)
19. Boondocks - Little Big Town
20. Right Back Where We Started From - Maxine Nightengale
