In preparation for this surgery, I needed to procure a pair of crutches. I got a script to get new ones, but I knew my mom and dad still had the ones I used back in the day and figured I could just use those. When I saw them they looked pretty crusty though. I believe these were used 3 times. I think my sister was the first to use them in the early 90s when she broke her leg, and I used them twice in high school. Needless to say, they have seen better days.
When I checked in for surgery, almost everyone who walked into our little holding room commented on how old they looked. I think the PT actually felt sorry for me, because he brought me new ones. So no worries, I'm currently walking around with brand spankin new crutches.

holla for an awesome PT. Those are the crustiest old crutches ever. I have seen wooden ones before, though, so at least they aren't THAT old.
Hope recovery is going well!!
Ooof - what did you have surgery for?
And yes, if you had brought those crutches in, I would have given you new ones too. Although I have had patients bring in crutches that were all wood, with no adjustability, and about 5" too short for them, and insist that they "were just fine!!" Uhhhh....no.
I had stage 1 of a 2 stage ACL revision. stage 1 = hardware and graft removal, and filling the bone tunnels. Stage 2 is in 3 months. (ugh!)
How you doing? Just wanted to say I miss seeing your updates. I'm heading in for shoulder surgery in 3 weeks, and wanted to let you know I was thinking of you!
